Me/2003/Demolitions/

Demolitions work. How very fun. The main demolitions work that got accomplished was on my face; that's a 5-stitch laceration. Unfortunately, I don't have any pics of what it looked like before it was stitched up, but beforehand it had looked vaguely Terminator-ish.

Basically, what happened is that during a church project, I was demolishing some walls. I'd worked happily and safely, swinging my maul and breaking down drywall and boards for about 5 hours across two days. A church staff member got impatient (AFTER almost everyone else had left and I was still working without complaint) and informed me he was going to change the way I was doing things because I wasn't going fast enough - so I complied. About 10 minutes using the sledgehammer his "faster" way resulted in the end of a 2x4 smashing me in the face. It's now two weeks afterwards, and it appears that I get to pay the price for that guy's impatience with a huge scar.

On a side note, the T-shirt is the reason I only spent 4 hours waiting at a hospital for medical attention. Kids with colds always get triaged as being more important than facial lacerations, by the way. My choice of attire, plus demonstrating crankiness when I finally got called, is why I got treated and released within 20 minutes of being called while the guy next to me in the treatment area complained that he had been sitting there for three hours - not counting waiting room time - and no one had even talked to him yet.
