2005-04-04: Range Run

Another Monday down, another range run. The gas port on my Hakim was un-stuck after the last range run, so after switching it to semi-auto mode, much fun was had by all. It did require being left in the totally-open mode in order to cycle (probably could tune it a little though), which resulted in a LOT of blowback gas being used and the rounds being ejected so violently that they travelled about half way down the 75-foot range (travelling at about a 60 degree angle), and then bouncing off the wall and rolling to a stop with a big dent in the casing where the bolt struck it on the way out. I imagine that much recoil isn't healthy for the rifle either, in the long run. This is why I intend to tune it a bit more. The unusual receiver action on the Hakim drew a fair amount of attention and amusement, furthering my reputation as a guy who very rarely buys a gun unless it's outright WEIRD.
