2005-03-02: Finally hunted down Socal Guns

So, in the quest to actually get ahold of my Hakim rifle, I took my lunch break to go homewards. But instead of going home, I stopped by Socal Gun, which is near my house and actually DOES handle transfers from Gunbroker. It turns out they charge a semi-steep $55 to have the guns shipped to them, but that's only $10 more than the pawn shop in El Cajon that charges $45 - which was the next place I'd have had to call.

I do wish Iron Sights had a discounted transfer fee for range members, but then again they'd be competing with their own gun sales. On the other hand, I'd be perfectly happy to buy all my guns at Iron Sights if they actually stocked the mechanical and historical oddities I tend to desire. At any rate, I'm happy that things are squared away there.

Of course, the next coolest thing ever is that my roomie Brian is finally getting a gun. He's had an interest in my Airsoft replica of a Maverick 88 bullpup that I picked up in Japan for quite some time. On a whim, I looked for it on Gunbroker, and found several of them for sale. One of them was only $450... within 30 minutes of Brian having seen that auction, he'd created an account and snapped it up. It's definitely worth taking a look at.
