2005-03-03: Things Come Together

So, today I managed to find my stamps, so that I can send a check off to the pawn shop I bought my Hakim from. At this rate, the FFL will be there before my check. Hope that doesn't hold things up too much. I've also won the auction on the VZ-52 barrel and receiver, so that I can convert it to fire in 7.62x39mm. Unless of course I just decide to build myself a new VZ-52 from the barrel and receiver, in which case I'm going to be ordering a replacement stock from the company that makes new stocks for VZ-52's. It could be fun to build a VZ from the ground up. Of course, I'd need to get the trigger group and all the requisite springs, and in the end it'll probably run run well over the price of a full VZ-52. But, it's all about the learning experience. Maybe I ought to just do my learning experience with an M1919 kit instead, though.

I also went home for lunch today, fed a number of credit card offers to the paper shredder, and did a load of sadly neglected laundry. I hope to have my "conventional" housework back to a manageable level by the weekend, so that I can devote Saturday exclusively to getting a new wall in the bathroom.

On a geek note, Request Tracker has been working out pretty interestingly. I've fed a number of different tickets to it, and I've created several different "queues" and groups, for the various areas I need stuff done in. I'm hoping that it's well received. I do need to create a 'firearms' and a 'housework' queue, however.
